AREA Scholarship for Beloit College Students

FOR INCOMING AND CURRENT BELOIT COLLEGE STUDENTS

The Arabic, Russian, & East Asian (AREA) Languages Scholarships are competitive scholarships for students interested in studying Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese or ESL in summer 2014 through Beloit College’s Center for Language Studies (CLS), a nationally recognized intensive language program.

By allowing you to accelerate your study of these critical languages, the AREA scholarship will help you achieve higher levels of proficiency more quickly and, as a result, provide you with the chance to pursue more meaningful study, both on campus and abroad, in the areas of Asian, Arabic, & Russian Studies.

We hope students will take advantage of this great opportunity to study these critical languages. The summer 2014 eight-week session runs from June 14 to August 8.  Grades earned will appear on the Beloit College transcript and will be included in the student's overall GPA.  The AREA scholarship is reserved for students attending the eight-week program and it covers partial tuition.

Incoming and Current Beloit College students may apply directly for the AREA scholarship through the CLS online application. Students with a strong language background or a minimum GPA of 3.25 will receive priority consideration for the AREA Scholarships. The deadline for applications is April 23, 2014, with announcements being made on a rolling basis.  Students who complete their CLS application by April 1 will receive priority consideration.

Final award of the AREA scholarship for incoming students is contingent upon the recipient's paid enrollment deposit and commitment to attend Beloit College in the fall of 2014 by Friday, May 16.
