Name: Owen Boardman’14
Hometown: St. Paul, Minn.
Major/minor: Sociology and critical identity studies.
What brought me to Beloit: The school stressed critical thinking without sounding pretentious.
My favorite class so far, and why you should take it: Intro to Feminism (now Sex and Power). You should take it because it teaches you how to apply theory to real life experiences.
You may have seen me: The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Popcorn, and 10,000 AD Sketch Comedy.
The best book I’ve read at Beloit: The Women of Brewster Place.
Why you should come see me in The Memorandum: Because you like to laugh while feeling mildly uncomfortable.
Favorite meal? Steak and deep-fried cheese curds.
Who are your top-three fantasy dinner party guests? James Brown, Dave Chappelle, and R. Kelly (just to ask him about the creative process behind Trapped in the Closet).
Who are your heroes? Andre 3000 and Michel Foucault. I also have at least five heroes on campus, but I would feel awkward if they knew who they were.
What can't you live without? Friends (not the show).
