Giving it up: Beloiter Fund up by $300,000

June 30, 2014

Beloiters from around the world have helped the college meet its ambitious 2013-14 annual fund goal. According to the Development Office, gifts to the Beloiter Fund exceeded $3.3 million this year. That's approximately $300,000 more than last year's goal and constitutes a 45 percent increase from five years ago.

Gifts to the Beloiter Fund support operational and physical needs across campus, as well as initiatives such as Renewing the Historic Core, scholarships, the Liberal Arts in Practice, and athletics.

"Achieving this record-setting Beloiter Fund goal demonstrates the incredible belief in and support for the direction, goals, and aspirations of Beloit College among our alumni, parents, and friends, including many of you,” says Mark Wold’95, senior director of alumni and parent relations and annual support. “We know that Beloiters lead the lives they choose for themselves, not lives chosen for them. This incredible support for the college makes transformational experiences‒both in and out of the classroom‒possible, and provides students with the tools to go forth to live lives of purpose and consequence."

A few things to know about the Beloiter Fund and this year's gifts:

  • The number of gifts increased this year over last
  • Gifts to "greatest need" made up the largest share of this year's contributions
  • This isn't all: Total giving to the college‒through planned gifts, grants, and more‒exceeded $9 million this year
