OIE signs on to pledge, raises study abroad goal to 60 percent

May 7, 2014

The Office of International Education has signed on to a national pledge aimed at doubling the number of students that study abroad nationally each year.

“The Institute for International Education is calling its new national push ‘Generation Study Abroad.’ The initiative seeks to double the number of students studying abroad over the next five years,” says Director of International Education Betsy Brewer. “Institutions that have joined the initiative will be announced at the NAFSA meeting in May in San Diego, and pledges will be published on IIE's website.”

Beloit's baseline study abroad number (for 2011-12) was 39 percent.
