See a strange message in your inbox over the weekend or yesterday, appearing to originate with the college’s IT department? It didn’t.
A number of email phishing attacks have been reported, asking recipients to click on a link and fill in personal information, claiming that their email client is about to run out of storage.
“It is ok to open and read an email, but please don't click on links that take you to off campus sites,” writes Beloit College Network Engineer Tim Tyler. “If the signature is something generic such as ‘Web Team’, that should be a red flag.”
If you have a question relating to a potential phishing attack, please contact the Help Desk at ext. 2067 or email@example.com.
