Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Details, registration info for Chicago Field Day 2014

On Friday, Feb. 21, Beloit students across disciplines will have the opportunity to learn from--and network with--Beloit alumni working in their respective fields of expertise during Chicago Field Day 2014.

Chicago Field Day offers a chance for Beloiters to explore ways to further their professional and academic goals. The shape of these goals may take many forms including, but not limited to the study of and work in:

  • Scientific research
  • Public policy
  • Public health
  • Information technology
  • Medicine
  • Community development
  • Education

There are many alumni living in the Chicago area who have established competence and careers in these areas and are eager to share their their experiences. The Chicago Field Day provides a one-day field trip for a limited number of students to meet with alumni working in a variety of contexts— including academic, entrepreneurial,    corporate, non-profit, government and more.

This year’s day-long excursion will include visits to:

Argonne National Laboratory,  with a behind-the-scenes tour and talk with John Freeland’90,  a physicist in the X-ray science division, Lisa Gades’95, detector and optics specialist in the X-ray science division, and Timothy Martin’74, senior scientific associate in the environmental science division.

A tour of Rush University Medical Center, with presentations from Kimberly White Stein’96, a senior principal scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

The afternoon panel features:

  • Kelsey Kettlehut’13, specialist in stability studies, SGS
  • Kristin Monnard’09, program assistant, Center for Community Capacity Development , Illinois Public Health Institute
  • David Nadeau’12, web developer, eTecc Communications
  • Josh Prudowsky’10, youth council program director, Mikva Challenge

A $10 nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your reservation.
