Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Support, resources available in time of grief

January 20, 2014 at 7:54 am

After hearing the devastating news that the Beloit College community lost two of its own over break, students returning to campus may be experiencing a variety of emotions as they process the loss of Justine Ringberg and Raquel Nunez.

Staff in the college’s Dean of Students and Residential Life offices want you to know that there are multiple avenues of support on campus to help you during this time.

On Monday evening, floor meetings will take place, and RAs will spend time helping your community think about and talk about this, and find some comfort. These types of opportunities have been helpful to students in the past.

There will also be times for students to gather as a group to chat/process with the college’s counselors, Laura and Kevin. These sessions can open a door to more conversations with counselors, as needed. They will be held in Weeks Lounge in Pearsons and are scheduled for:

  • Monday (Jan. 20) from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Monday (Jan. 20) 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday (Jan. 22) 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Some students will want to talk about this now, and others may want to talk after they have time to think. The support will be available when you need it. Our counselors are located in Porter Hall at the health center. If you would like to schedule a time to meet individually with a counselor please call the health center at ext. 2331.

Loss and grief is tough in a community as tightly knit as Beloit College--we know that in true Beloit fashion this community will help others find the support they need. If you are worried about a friend as the days and weeks go by, please let us know so we can find support for them. You can call Teresa in the Dean of Students office at ext. 2660 or John in the Residence Life office ext. 2350. Know also that faculty, advisors, coaches, hall directors, RAs, and other staff are all ready to listen and help as they can.
