Condolences to the family of Ruth Greenlee Davis

January 2, 2014

Ruth Greenlee Davis, wife of Emeritus Professor of Political Science Harry R. Davis, passed away the day after Christmas, Dec. 26.

Ruth could have coined the term “Beloiter,” for she was certainly a proud and loyal one, both of the college and the city. Arriving in Beloit with Harry in 1948 after earning her B.A. and master's degree from the University of Chicago, Ruth was a regular at campus cultural and social events and was perhaps best known as the long-time coordinator of the popular faculty-staff international dining club. A member and officer of the First Presbyterian Church and active in the Rock County Democratic Party, Ruth served numerous roles across a wide array of local organizations. She and Harry lived in Beloit until 2010 when they moved to Madison.
