Multiple Beloiters win study-abroad scholarships

November 21, 2013

The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship program just announced awards for study abroad in spring 2014, and eight Beloit College students are among those who received the awards.

This is an accomplishment of which the college should be proud, says Director of International Education Betsy Brewer. “Beloit College students received the greatest number of awards at an institution of its size,” she says. “Indeed, we beat out many institutions with much larger student populations.”

The next application deadline for Gilman awards is March 4; to be eligible for the award, students must also be eligible for Pell Grants. Jon Urish in the Financial Aid department works with students to complete the financial portions of the application, while Brewer can provide advice on completing the two essays required for the application.
