Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Bucs tip off their ’13-’14 basketball season in upcoming days

November 19, 2013 at 7:20 am

The Beloit College basketball teams are set to open their 2013-’14 seasons this week, with both teams playing twice.

The men open the season on the road Tuesday night at Dominican University in River Forest, Ill., and play again at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee on Thursday night. Tipoff for both games is 7 p.m.

The Bucs, beginning their 105th season, finished 2012-’13 with a 12-11 overall mark, 10-8 in the Midwest Conference. Their 12 victories were the most since the 2001-02 season while their 10 wins in conference play were the most since the 1992-’93 season. They return all but two players from last year’s squad, including All-MWC players James Lazarcik and Steve McAfee, and welcome back seven seniors, with Brian Vraney beginning his seventh season as head coach.

The women open on Wednesday night with a challenge, playing at pre-season 21st-ranked Carthage College in Kenosha at 7 p.m.  They open their home season on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Elmhurst College in Flood Arena.

Jennifer McCormick begins her third season following last year’s 4-19 overall record, 3-15 in the MWC. All-MWC guard Lauren McNanna returns along with starters Jenna Larsen and Lana Wieseman.
