Kallari Rainforest chocolate and jewelry sale continues

November 13, 2013

The Kallari Association will continue its chocolate and jewelry fundraising sale Wednesday (Nov. 13) from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Mail Center. Stop by for the chance to check out the Ecuadorian handicrafts--and possibly get a start on your holiday shopping.

Founded by Beloit College alumna Judy Logback in Ecuador, the organization is a self-governed coalition of Amazon artists and organic cocoa producers. The cooperative began in 1997 with less than 50 families and has now grown to over 850 families.

Kallari has created sustainable income so Kichwa people can fulfill basic family needs without logging rainforests or selling land.
