A new, original performance from John Kaufmann’s Devising for Performance class will take place this weekend, starting tonight.
“This original performance explores how communication and intentions are obscured, mediated and misunderstood in today's world - specifically by Beloit College students,” Kaufmann says. “To create the show, we drew inspiration from our own absurd, delightful, and frustrating experiences with communication and technology. You may even see a virtual version of yourself on stage, as we generated material from students’ Facebook posts, Beloit Confessions, and surreptitiously recorded and transcribed conversations.”
“Stranger in the Box” will run tonight (Friday) and Saturday (Nov. 2) at 9 p.m. in Kresge Theatre, and Sunday (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m.
Performers include Alice Gehrke, Alyssa Taubin, Aria Shannon, Calago Hipps, Elyse Hill, Lily O’Brien, Owen Boardman, Paul McDonald, and Reid Libby.
