Get on area rivers with local coalition’s “river gathering”

May 23, 2013

Ready to get on the water this summer? A River Gathering is taking place at locations across the Stateline area on June 20-22. The program, presented by The Four Rivers Environmental Coalition, is a celebration of the area’s rivers and creeks through food, music, discussion, and field excursions and workshops that center on the Rock, Sugar, Pecatonica, and Kishwaukee Rivers and the areas these waterways run through.

Field sessions include canoeing, hiking, bird-watching, fly fishing, and more. Beloit’s very own Bill Green is leading a tour of the Indian mounds as part of this event, and Lisie Kitchel of the Wisconsin DNR will lead a mussel search in Turtle Creek for ages 12 and up. Pre-registration is required by June 7 for all events. See the full schedule in the PDF at the right side of this post.
