Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Staff Symposium/Recognition: Pick your sessions, congratulate colleagues

Now that Commencement has reached a successful conclusion, it’s time to turn our thoughts to Summer Symposium and Staff Recognition. The symposium will kick off Wednesday, May 15 with an 8:15 a.m. breakfast at Commons, during which President Bierman will share details about the day, recognize staff milestones (listed below), and reveal the winner of this year’s Bill Behling Prize.

Starting at 9:45 a.m., participants can choose from the concurrent sessions listed below. Sessions will wrap up by 12:30 p.m., leaving you free to go about the rest of your normal workday. As in past years, feel free to dress comfortably—jeans are just fine.

9:45 a.m. sessions

  • By the Numbers: Inside Admissions & Financial Aid, by staff from Admissions & Financial Aid; Mathers Room of Pearsons Hall
  • Residence Halls Tours, led by Residential Life Staff. Tour will depart from Commons and end at Pearsons
  • Fast Forward to the Beloiter Fund Module: Creative Fundraising and Why it Matters, by staff from Development & Alumni Relations; Moore Lounge of Pearsons Hall

10:45 a.m. sessions

  • The Importance of Identity, by Cecil Youngblood and Robin Hamilton; Moore Lounge of Pearsons Hall
  • Residence Halls Tours, led by Residential Life Staff. Tour will depart from Pearsons
  • Lessons from the TRIO Programs: How We Can Contribute to Student Success by Nate Edwards, Stephanie King, Jennifer Stitt, and Nicole Truesdell; Mathers Room of Pearsons

11:45 a.m. sessions

  • The Importance of Identity, (repeat of earlier session) by Cecil Youngblood and Robin Hamilton; Moore Lounge of Pearsons Hall
  • Campus Safety and Security, by Bruce Heine; Mathers Room of Pearsons
  • Logan Museum Open House/Tour; meet inside front entrance, tour will depart at noon
