For his honors term project, Eric Hetland’12 has been keeping busy researching and interviewing alumni about events in the 1950s and ’60s, when Beloit sororities and fraternities became racially integrated. Many of these chapters had their charters revoked by their national organizations and went on to become local organizations when they initiated students of color. Although this history is rich and important, Hetland now wants to take a closer look at how Greek organizations on campus handle inclusivity today.
On Friday (April 5) from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Intercultural Center, Hetland will be moderating a Greek Life Panel Discussion on Inclusivity. This panel discussion will explore that question as well as how Greek Life is generally viewed today. The entire campus community is invited to join this discussion.
The panelists will include:
- Alice Mitchell'13 of AST
- Kidiocus Carroll'14 of TKE
- Sasha Debevec-McKenney'12
- Alyssa Taubin’15
- Former Dean of Students and Executive Advisor to the President Bill Flanagan
This is event is sponsored by Residential Life and IFPC.
