Share some culture: volunteer for the Multicultural Fair

March 24, 2013

On Saturday, April 13, the Help Yourself Programs will host the 19th Annual Multicultural Fun Fair on the Beloit College Campus. The purpose of this yearly event is to encourage increased inter- and intra-personal understanding as well as cultural awareness. Students will experience exhibits, entertainment, and food from a diverse array of cultures.

Although admission to this event is only open to Help Yourself participants and their families, as a part of the event, we would like to invite Beloit College students, staff, and faculty to participate by creating a table or giving a performance representing their native country or any country of their choice/interest. Do you have a special talent such as singing, dancing or playing an instrument that will enhance the understanding of a culture? Display your talent to our Help Yourself Families! Past performances have included the playing of bagpipes, Mexican Folk dance and African dance.

Each exhibitor will be provided with a six-foot table for displays. Past exhibits have included cultural clothing, food, flags, toys, cultural games, hands-on displays, and explanations of cultural difficulties, concerns, and/or issues. We ask that each exhibit be as interactive as possible. If you are interested in participating, contact Regina Hendrix  at by Wednesday (March 27).
