Meet: Dana DiMaggio’14, for whom Beloit is a family tradition

March 8, 2013

Dana DiMaggio1

Name: Dana DiMaggio’14

Hometown: Saline, Mich.

Major/minor: Political science and religious studies; Spanish minor.

What brought me to Beloit: I knew about Beloit because my grandparents and various aunts and uncles were/are alums. I came here because I liked the atmosphere, and the size was pretty much perfect for me.

My favorite class so far, and why you should take it: Any religious studies class with Professor Majeed. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you have her classes – her energy makes any class much more interesting.

You may have seen me: AST or around SPIEL.

The best book I’ve read at Beloit: The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

What couldn’t you live without? My friends… We lived together in 840 freshman year and have continued to eat together ever since.

Any advice? I’ve learned to work on the things that interest you and not to worry about how you measure up with your friends. As long as the interest is there and you feel good about what you’ve accomplished, competing with yourself is the best thing you can do for yourself and your peace of mind.
