Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Bucs take part in Playing for the Cure

January 31, 2013 at 5:18 pm

If you’re seeing pink among the see of blue and gold during this week’s sporting events, it’s because the Buccaneer winter sport teams will be “Playing for the Cure” as part of a Midwest Conference-wide—and nationwide—fight against cancer.

The MWC’s “Play for the Cure” initiative run from Friday (Feb.1) until Feb. 10, which encompasses contests for the sports of Swimming & Diving and Men’s and Women’s Basketball.

At select MWC contests the participating teams will be wearing pink “Play for the Cure” t-shirts in pre-game warm-ups and pink memorabilia during the contests. Other fundraising activities will occur during select games to promote awareness and raise funds to help find a cure for the many forms of cancer.

The Beloit College swimming and diving team will be wearing pink caps on Saturday during their home finale dual meet with Knox College, which begins at 1 p.m. in Kresge Natatorium. The Buccaneer Basketball squads will wear pink warm-ups in their home games against Knox College on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Flood Arena; the men play at 3 p.m. that day, followed by the women.

The American Cancer Society is currently funding 11 research grants in the state of Wisconsin totaling just under $7 million.

The MWC will continue the initiative throughout the 2012-2013 season, with the Spring initiative running from April 12-21.  All proceeds from “Play for the Cure” will be donated to various cancer charities for research into its cause, prevention, and cure.
