Many seniors will remember Mike Green’s anecdotal, engaging approach to alcohol and drug education from his presentation at New Student Days in 2009.
This year, Head RA (South Complex) Mackenzie Kurtz’13 and Hall Director Mike Russell are collaborating with Greek Life, MYchoices, and Residential Life to bring Mike Green back to campus.
Green is president of the Collegiate Consultants on Drugs and Alcohol and has presented on over 2,000 campuses nationwide. Instead of taking on the role of a preachy parent, Green speaks about his experience as a recovering alcoholic and educates about making healthy choices.
Green’s realistic approach to drug and alcohol education is what motivated Kurtz to bring him back to campus.
“Instead of arguing that students should never drink, he talks about responsible drinking and challenges students to step back and put their behaviors into perspective,” she says. “We want to fill it up so bring yourself and bring a friend because we’re bringing Greeny back!”
Green will speak Wednesday (Oct. 3) at 7:30 p.m. in Eaton Chapel.
