A hard-to-miss Science Center Sculpture explained (pics)

May 7, 2012

You might have noticed a rather unusual piece of art in the Science Center last week, a giant black balloon sculpture hanging, chandelier-style, in the Atrium.

Created by the students of Chemistry 150 (a nanochemistry course) the sculpture is a “a 2 billion scale model of a carbon nanotube,” according to Chemistry Professor George Lisensky. (The carbon nanotube is one of the strongest fibers around.)
