Meet Alen Keric’14, an international student and actor

April 16, 2012

Alen Keric

Name: Alen Keric’14

Major/minor: Performance and media studies, political science minor.

Hometown/residence: Konjic, Bosnia and Herzegovina

You may have seen me: In Pretty Theft, The Dining Room, The Real Inspector Hound, or on my blue bike, racing to my classes and rehearsals.

Favorite meal? Shopska salata, an eastern European salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, feta cheese, and corn. It is VERY delicious.

What can’t you live without? I cannot live without Skype. Keeping in touch with friends and family is VERY important.

Any advice? Never take away time from your sleep. Sleep every day at least seven hours. You deserve it.  Respect your body always and give it the rest it needs.

What do you do in your free time? In my free time, I do yoga, dance, play in shows, run German Club, participate in BITE (Beloit International Theater Experience), and bike!

Who are your top-three fantasy dinner party guests? Obviously, Michel Foucault, Marina Abramovic, and Pina Bausch. These people are very influential on my artistic work.

What gets you up in the morning? My roommate singing.

Who are your heroes? My heroes are my mom and my dad. They have taught me so many things about life and they are the most inspiring and encouraging parents one could wish for.

What are you most looking forward to? At this point, I'm most looking forward to summer. Reading good books, long summer evenings, and hopefully an exciting internship.

What are a few of your favorite things? A few of my favorite things are perfume, softener, and deodorants. I love to smell good and I love it when others smell good. Smells give you secret powers!
