Meet Thu Pham’12, looking forward to life in the Big Apple

Name: Thu Pham’12
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Economics management and media studies. Minor: Chinese.
You may have seen me:
TV studio at CELEB in downtown Beloit.
What three items go in your desert island backpack? White rice, brown rice, and black rice.
What can’t you live without?
Asians. We’re everywhere.
What do you do in your free time?
I love cooking and inviting people over for food. It calms me down. That’s also our culture. We don’t eat by ourselves. Our door and neighbors’ doors are always wide open in every meal.
Who are your heroes?
My talented parents. My mom is an entrepreneur, and my dad is a musician. They started their career from zero money in their pockets and managed to raise me and my brother with the best of everything. Oh, and my younger brother, of course. He’s the other man in the whole world who cares about every second of my life, after my dad.
What’s the number one thing on your bucket list?
Adopt as many children as I can afford. Fifty percent of them will be Vietnamese. The rest will be from all over the world.
What are you most looking forward to?
My post-grad life in the Big Apple. I’m going to work for Broadway. My friend and I also own a small business there—it’ll be easier to manage it when I don’t have homework to finish every day.
