Meet: Carrick Davis’06, Alaskan/Detroiter/Beloiter

Name: Carrick Davis’06
Occupation: Research Analyst in the Beloit College Office of External Affairs.
Hometown/residence: I grew up in Alaska, but I call Detroit my adopted hometown.
You may have seen me: In the sports center lifting moderately heavy things, chasing a stray disc playing Frisbee golf, or leaving work late at night.
What are a few of your favorite things? Arrested Development, my bicycle, spare time. Probably in that order.
What three items go in your desert island backpack? Sunglasses, sunscreen, beach chair.
What’s on your desert island jukebox? Josh Ritter, Mayer Hawthorne, Motown.
Any do-over requests to lodge with the universe? Explain. None. I'll take it as it comes.
Favorite meal? Sushi.
What can’t you live without? Running water. I've tried.
Any advice? You may never live in Wisconsin again. Go exploring.
What do you do in your free time? I play saxophone in the Detroit Party Marching Band.
If you could be reincarnated, what person/thing would you like to be? An eagle. Top of the food chain, protected by law, and the ability to fly.
Who are your top-three fantasy dinner party guests? Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, and Louis CK.
What gets you up in the morning? Fritz the schnauzer.
Who are your heroes? Anyone and everyone who puts their values into action.
Which talent would you most like to have? Time travel. I'd settle for the ability to pause the world around me so I can catch up.
Beatles or Stones? Beatles, circa Sgt. Pepper.
What’s your favorite hidden gem here in the area? Bushel & Peck. Not hidden, but a gem. Food, coffee, gathering place, trivia. And Sean Keith, former C-Haus manager.
What’s the number one thing on your bucket list? Visit Carrick County, Ireland.
Proudest moment? Stay tuned. I hope it's yet to come.
If you were auditioning for American Idol, what song would you sing? “Baby” by Justin Bieber. It's in my range.
What are you most looking forward to? 70-degree weather. And Mardi Gras. 70-degree weather AT Mardi Gras.
