Ready to run? Then register for Olde English

September 22, 2011

If registration is any indication, Team Beloit has got the 49th annual Olde English Classic in the bag. As of last week, Team Beloit had registered the most runners in the competition.

Vying to take the trophy from Beloit, however, are returning squads from Lawrence and Ripon (we won the open challenge last year). The top three male and female finishers will count towards the trophy, and if the sweet, sweet smell of victory isn’t enough motivation to get out and run this race, know that our own Paul Stanley will trumpet the start of the race, and that faculty and staff participants (and their spouses) can pick up their (free!) Chariots of Fire-inspired Olde English T-shirts in the president's office prior to race day.

The race will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m., in Beloit’s Leeson Park; you can see the course map online. Pre-registration is required, and can be completed  here.

Also, while you're scheduling out your last weeks of training runs, remember to stretch those vocal chords too. Our women's and men's squads - the day's main events - will be running at 11 a.m. and noon. Get ready to cheer them on.
