MEET: Bebe Santa-Wood'12, advising you to avoid cargo shorts

September 5, 2011 at 8:58 pm

bebe1Name/year of graduation: Bebe Santa-Wood'12
Hometown/residence: Colorado Springs,Col.
Major: Political science
You may have seen me: Rushing to class while applying lipstick and probably tripping up the stairs in the process.
What three items go in your desert island backpack? Nutella, a copy of Anne of Green Gables and an incredibly sharp spear.
What’s on your desert island jukebox? Chairs Missing by Wire, The Kinks Discography, and the Greatest Hits of Abba so I have something to dance to.
What can’t you live without? Bacon.
Any advice? I think it's really important to have an even balance of the ridiculous and the serious in life, because too much of one or the other makes it impossible to survive most situations. Also, in general, avoid cargo shorts.
What do you do in your free time? I like knitting, listening to records, hanging out with my cat, thrift shopping and reading girly Victorian literature. Basically I am already a senior citizen.
If you could be reincarnated, what person/thing would you like to be? Either a hawk or a pizza delivery boy, so I could get free pizza.
Who are your top-three fantasy dinner party guests? I would love to have a dinner party with Oscar Wilde, Tom Waits, and Dorothy Parker. That seems like a fun sassy bunch I could have a good time with.
Who are your heroes? My friend and teacher Camille, who taught me the importance of respect, empathy, and humour.
Beatles or Stones? The Beatles, for their entire psychedelic phase.
What’s your favorite hidden gem here in the area? La Luz-it's a Mexican market and grocery. Their guacamole is a spiritual experience.
What’s the number one thing on your bucket list? Have a Hallmark movie version of my life made.
If you were auditioning for American Idol, what song would you sing? I can do a spot-on version of "If I could Turn Back Time" by Cher.
What are you most looking forward to? I'm really excited about the future and the endless possibilities of where I could end up traveling and living. Short term, I'm pretty excited about brunch in fifteen minutes.
