Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

What are a few of your favorite things? Books, games, friends, family, and sports
What three items go in your desert island backpack? Knife, canteen, and a compass
What’s on your desert island jukebox? Disturbed, Ricky Martin, Avenged Sevenfold, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Linkin’ Park, Mark Anthony, TVXQ (DBSK), Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Lady Gaga, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Cornerstone, Godsmack, Creed, Dragonforce, Stratovarious, Epica, Evanescence, Him, Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Mozart, Sabaton, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Kamelot.
Favorite meal? Lunch (Especially if it was a traditional Iraqi Qouzi)
What can’t you live without? Passion
Any advice? Always ask, if a day goes by without you learning something, that’s a day wasted.
What do you do in your free time? Play games, read books, hang out with friends, do stupid and irresponsible things, and party.
If you could be reincarnated, what person/thing would you like to be? A Dragoon. (Not Dragon, big difference. Dragoons are warriors that command and rule over dragons. You could call them “dragon knights’)
Who are your top-three fantasy dinner party guests? Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed.
What gets you up in the morning? My alarm clock and motivation.
Who are your heroes? Edward the Black Prince, Khalid Bin Al-Walled, Saladin, Lu-Bu, Yukimura Sanada, Hanzo Hattori, My family, The Iron Duke (The Duke of Wellington) Von Richtoffen (the Red Baron) and many everyday people in Iraq.
Which talent would you most like to have? The talent to rule with justice.
Beatles or Stones? Stones
What’s the number one thing on your bucket list? Sky-diving
Proudest moment? Went up against something that I should fail at and I actually came out on top.
If you were auditioning for American Idol, what song would you sing? “After-life” by Avenged Sevenfold
What are you most looking forward to? The rest of my life.
