Terry Owens tweeting away as Bucs bask, battle in Florida this week

March 8, 2011

If you, like us, are still on campus this week (and longing for a little sunshine) you can tag along with Sports Information Director Terry Owens as he tweets about the fortunes of the Buccaneers' baseball and softball squads, both of whom are currently playing almost daily games in central Florida—where it's expected to be sunny and reaching 85 degrees today.

Owens, keeper of the @BeloitBucs Twitter handle, is offering regular updates online as well as filing nightly stories on And so you know, the kind-hearted SID is taking it easy on those of us still struggling under early spring temps. A quick scan of the latest updates offers no teasing forecasts, though he did have to warn that his iPhone was perilously low on juice during Monday's softball contest.

Good luck down there Bucs (and Terry)!

A few recent highlights from the @Beloit Bucs feed:

  • Tuesday in Florida (book title?): Softball has the day off. Baseball plays a single game against Gwynedd Mercy PA in Winter Haven
  • Just a warning to those following Buccaneer Softball vs Wesley. My battery is very, very low. So the twits may stop at anytime.
  • SB vs Wesley CT about to begin on cold (yes, cold!) & breezy Kissimmee. Under the lights!
  • Coach DeGeorge told me this is the 2nd time he's lost on a walk-off balk on a Spring Trip. The other time was in Panama City several yrs ago
