Anthro alumnus makes much of campus mounds

March 4, 2011

The college’s mounds featured prominently in a recent issue of Anthropology News (a publication of the American Anthropological Association). In the March 2011 issue, James Snead’84 authored a piece titled “Histories of Place in American Archaeology.”

In the piece, Snead—currently an associate professor of anthropology at George Mason University—mentions that he became reacquainted with the mounds on a trip back to campus for a reunion.

“Placing our relationship with antiquities in the American context is an essential step towards understanding what we do, and walking the Beloit mounds … provides the experience to begin the process,” Snead writes.
