February 13, 2011

Caroline Stark, the fourth candidate for the tenure-track position in classics, will give a talk today (Monday) at 12:30 in the Logan Room (second floor, Wright Museum of Art) entitled  “The Invention of Desire.” This presentation examines Botticelli’s celebrated artworks ‘The Birth of Venus’ and ‘La Primavera’ and how knowledge of the classical tradition enhances our understanding of these enigmatic paintings.

Stark earned her B.A. from Sweet Briar College. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in classics and renaissance studies at Yale University.
