Jason Bisping, the third candidate for the tenure-track position in theatre, will give a talk at 4 p.m. today in WAC South Lounge entitled “Using Applied Theatre for Sustainable Energy Development in Chajul, Guatemala.”
Bisping is a theatre artist and scholar. He has a B.A. in theatre and English literature and writing from St. Cloud State University, and received his M.A. in theatre from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he is currently a Ph.D. candidate, graduating in May 2011. His research interests include theatre for development, theatre of the oppressed, in-yer-face theatre, women and gender studies, and Shakespeare.
Bisping conducted his dissertation research over the past two summers in Chajul, Guatemala, with support from the Philanthropiece Foundation and in collaboration with the undergraduate student group Performers Without Borders.
