Second Annual Giving Day a Great Success

The Beloit College community is generous and showed its heart and soul during its second annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. In just 24 hours, the college raised over $65,000 from more than 450 supporters.

Not only did the gifts far surpass the original goal of $25,000, the event also raised $25,000 more than last year. Beloit is touched by the fantastic response received from supporters and is grateful to be backed by such a strong foundation of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These gifts help make ‪#‎BeloitPossible for the next generation of Turtles, Bucs, and Beloiters.

The unconditional support, enthusiastically offered by our alumni, parents, and friends is a tribute to the character of our community, and the value that we all collectively recognize in the mission we seek to advance. We at Beloit are privileged to have a community so willing to invest in the future of our great institution, and our students. For this, we are grateful,” said Mark Wold’95, Senior Director of Alumni & Parent Relations and Annual Support.

Thank you to all who supported Beloit College’s second annual Giving Day. As College President Scott Bierman often says, it’s “turtles all the way down.”

Bet you didn't know this about the Bucs...

February 6, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Randy Williams has been running the scoreboard for Buccaneer basketball games for about 25 years, or since the time of Bill Knapton’s long tenure as head men’s basketball coach at Beloit College.

But here’s where it gets interesting:

Williams serves as the director of information technology at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and also runs the scoreboard for the Eagle men’s and women’s basketball games. He’s served those teams for about four years.

He makes the long trip back to Beloit on game days, even during the week and many times in questionable winter weather.

Next time you run into Randy thank him for his dedication to Beloit College and to Buccaneer basketball (and maybe slip him a gas card).

Last week in Buc sports:
Men’s basketball (8-11, 7-7 MWC) went 2-1 last week, all on the road, with wins at Carroll and Monmouth. They travel to St. Norbert on Wednesday night before hosting Lawrence on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Women’s basketball (7-11, 5-8 MWC) went 1-2 last week, winning at Illinois College on Friday night. They play at St. Norbert on Wednesday night before hosting Lake Forest on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and Lawrence on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving defeated Knox and Lawrence in the home and regular season finale on Saturday in Kresge Natatorium. They’re now off until the Midwest Conference Championships, February 18-20, at Grinnell College.

Men’s and women’s track and field competed at the Bob Keck Invite at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, with the men finishing 13th and the women 15th. The squads are at the Knox Open next Saturday with action starting at 10 a.m.
