Careers in Chemistry: today

From 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. today in Science center 402, representatives from Genencor will discuss the realities of and opportunities in a career in biotechnology.

Genencor, a subsidiary of Danisco (recently purchased by Dupont) is the world’s second-largest maker of industrial enzymes. Representatives from Beloit’s very own manufacturing facility will discuss what makes them a leading industrial biotechnology company that develops and markets innovative enzymes and biobased products.

Current areas of research include the development of fermentation organisms to convert sugars from starch and cellulose into ethanol and the textile feedstock 1,3-propanediol in addition to their continued work in producing food stabilizers, cultures, and sweeteners. Participants will include: Melanie Wincell'98, QA/QC Lab Technician III; Jennifer Griffith, HR Manager; Peter Lundqvist, Technology/Engineering Director; Kirk Eidman, Operations Manager; and Jodi Henderson, Technical Sales Manager
