BIFF it: Campus filmmakers still have time to enter

January 25, 2011

This coming weekend, teams of filmmakers from throughout the region will participate in the first Canned Film Competition as part of the 2011 BIFF.

This Friday, Jan. 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., teams will gather for instructions in the lobby of the Beloit Inn, and then will have two days and two hours to make movie magic.

Filmmakers will be given a genre and a mystery object to include in the film, and will have 50 hours to “plan it, cram it, and can it.” The completed films will be submitted on Sunday (Jan. 30). Winners will be announced at the screening following BIFF opening festivities, and selected films will become part of the film fare of BIFF, shown in Beloit and Janesville.

There is a $50 entrance fee for each team. Details regarding the competition are at and

BIFF 2011 is sponsored by The Hendricks Group of Beloit in association with Beloit College and with a grant from Visit Beloit.
