Soccer team earns academic honors

January 6, 2011

The Beloit College Men’s Soccer team has been recognized as one of 196 squads nationwide to earn the National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award.

Under head coach Tim Schmiechen, who completed his 21st season this past fall, the Buccaneers had a cumulative 3.28 grade-point-average. Their GPA was the highest among the three Midwest Conference teams who received the award (Grinnell 3.23, Lawrence 3.14) for the 2009-10 academic year.

A total of 640 soccer teams (196 men, 444 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the honor.
