Safety and Security on Campus: The Fire Safety Report and the 2009 Clery Act Report

September 14, 2010

Each fall in voluntary compliance with the Campus Security Act of 1990, now known as the Clery Act, the Beloit College Security Department publishes a Crime Awareness and Safety/Security Guide and Fire Safety Report.

This year, in voluntary compliance with the Higher Education Act, we are also publishing the Fire Safety Report.  The Fire Safety Report details what fire safety equipment is in place for each residence hall and fire related policies and procedures.  The report also includes fire statistics for each residential hall.  The statistics show; the cause of each fire, the value of property damage for each fire and the number of injuries or deaths related to each fire during the previous three years (beginning with the statistics for 2009) To view the Fire Safety Report, go to  and click on “Fire Safety Report”.

To help contain the costs of printing, the complete annual report has been posted on the Beloit College Security Department web page located at:  If you prefer this information in booklet form, copies are available in the Campus Security Office (lower level of Pearsons Hall)
