Beloit, WI -- Senior linebacker Tony Baratti and senior wide receiver/running back Andrew Christensen have both received pre-season mention as the 2010 Football season draws closer.
Baratti, who earned First Team All-MWC honors at the end of last season for the second straight year, was named to the Consensus Draft Services Division III Pre-Season All-American First Team and was also an Inside Wisconsin Sports magazine Pre-Season All-State pick. His IWS honor marks the second straight year he has been named to the squad.
Baratti, from Arlington Heights, Illinois (Prospect), surpassed the century mark in tackles for the second straight season, leading the league at 11.4 per game. He was also third in the MWC in forced fumbles. Baratti is just the third Buccaneer with 300-plus career tackles and enters his senior season third on the career list with 324.
He was named the Buc's Most Valuable Player for the second straight season.
Christensen, who earned d3Football.com All-West Region honors at the end of last season, was named to the D3 Senior Classic Pre-Season All-American First Team as a Return Specialist.
Christensen, from Janesville, Wisconsin (Milton) led the MWC in All-Purpose yardage and kickoff return yardage while finishing third in kickoff return average. He broke Beloit’s career kickoff return yardage record during the season with 2,233 yards and enters his senior season with 4,290 career all-purpose yards.
The Buccaneers open their 2010 season on Saturday, September 4, when they host the University of Chicago in a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Strong Stadium, the first of six home games on the season.
