Museum Mondays spring stunner: the Baby Battle Bracket concludes

April 22, 2012 at 7:32 pm

In a stunning upset to the bracket battle of considerable cuteness, Beloit College archivist Fred Burwell narrowly defeated the fearsomely cute Assistant Professor of Education and Youth Studies Jingjing Lou to take the title of Beloit College’s Cutest Baby. Burwell edged Lou by a single vote, proving once again that in a democracy, every vote matters.

Burwell received his prize from Logan curator Dan Bartlett in a ceremony held at the museum’s Baby Day event. As the college’s cutest baby, Burwell received a college museums mug, a turtle finger puppet, and a stylish bejeweled tiara.

Burwell was feted for his victory at the Logan Museum’s Babies’ Day Out, which was held in conjunction with last Wednesday’s Spring Day. A dozen babies, their parents, and about 45 students enjoyed goldfish crackers, Teddy Grahams, and juice boxes in celebration of spring and baby-ness. They also enjoyed the museum’s current exhibit,  “Growing Up: Tools for the Work of Childhood,” which runs through the semester and explores the material culture of childhood around the world.
