Meet Maria Heath’14, who loves baking and dance

May 7, 2012 at 5:16 pm

Maria 2

Name/year of graduation: Maria Heath’14

Hometown/residence: Mt. Carroll, Ill.

Major: Comparative literature.

You may have seen me: Hanging out in Pearsons, especially during Ballroom Dances.

What are a few of your favorite things? Books, chocolate, polished stones, calligraphy pens, ballgowns, stolen hats, digital cameras, balloon flowers, climbing trees, my spoiled cats, RPGs, vanilla tea, anime, languages, pretty/colorful/shiny things, making people smile.

Favorite meal? Steak fried with onions and my mom's cheese-filled pasta covered in her canned tomatoes and fresh garlic and cilantro. Hot tea to wash it down, and chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert.

What can’t you live without? Oxygen. Also friends, family, and chocolate.

Any advice? Learn to bake. There's no faster way to make friends. :)

What do you do in your free time? Free time? What's that? Just kidding, I fill most of my free time with extracurricular activities (like SPIEL, AST, Chamber Singers, and Ballroom Dance Club/Team) so I keep pretty busy. When I'm not running around like crazy, I like to watch movies with friends or listen to music and read in my room.

What gets you up in the morning? Desire to do well at things I've committed to doing and to not let people down. Also, an annoying dubstep version of the Lost Woods song from “Legend of Zelda” playing on my phone.

Who are your heroes? My parents and their friends, and anyone who is able to live life to its fullest.

Which talent would you most like to have? The ability to learn to speak any other language fluently.

What’s the number one thing on your bucket list? Skydiving.

What are you most looking forward to? My next family camp-out! I don't get to see my extended family enough, so our annual camp-out at one of the family farms is one of the weekends of the year I look forward to most. Also Christmas, for the same reason. :)
