Please join us in welcoming "PAN: A Graphic Arts Time Capsule- Europe 1895-1900" to the Wright Museum of Art. Pan was a five-volume German based art periodical that featured works in mediums such as etchings, lithographs and woodcuts by prominent artists hailing from England, Sweden, the Netherlands, and numerous other countries.  The magazine was launched in 1895 by Otto Julius Bierbaum and Julius Meier-Graefe and ran only five years before its demise (although others did resurrect it briefly during the 1910s). It was known for its eclectic display of modern styles by artists from all over Europe, and is generally credited with helping to launch the Art Nouveau movement in Germany. The exhibit will feature framed prints from the magazine and an original copy of one of the issues. It will open in the Hollensteiner gallery on August 18th and remain on display until October 19th. Generously funded by George S. Parker.
