What if you are a Beloit Student interested in environmental justice, human rights, middle eastern studies, social justice, activism, poverty-eradication, international affairs, and many other related fields? THIS is THE opportunity for you!
Thanks to the generosity of the Office of International Education and Weissberg, I have secured funding for 7 other students to attend this year's Nobel Prize Forum in Minneapolis on September 16th (that's coming up soon). The Nobel Peace Prize Forum brings together laureates, world leaders, distinguished peacemakers, and students in an annual event to engage with communities and build a more peaceful world. This year’s forum will honor the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet. The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the Quartet with the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize for “its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011.” There will also be an interesting session on gun violence prevention with remarks from Representative Gabby Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly. This event is also an excellent networking opportunity as there are several breakout sessions with activists and students.
We will leave Beloit on Friday, September 15th at 6 pm, attend the event Saturday, September 16th and arrive back in Beloit early afternoon on the 17th. Who: ANY and ALL students to apply, regardless of class year or major. In addition, I'm looking for at least 1 other registered van driver. How to apply: Follow the link below to fill out the application. It is due next Wednesday at 4 pm. If you have any questions please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please share this and tell friends, too.
