About the Terrarium
The Terrarium is Beloit College’s internal news and information site, a place for telling the stories of the people and projects that energize and animate our community. We want to eschew the idea of academic institution as an ivory tower, and live up to our namesake: a transparent but distinct ecosystem, rich with growth.
What is the Terrarium?
The website (www.beloit.edu/terrarium) is a campus resource for viewing the Master Calendar, accessing college resources (the portal, BLink, email and more), checking the weather, selling your second-hand goods, and otherwise planning out your day or completing your work.
The Terrarium weekly email, distributed every Sunday, features the best of the Terrarium site, but focuses on Beloit’s students, faculty, and staff and their work. (All employees and students are automatically signed up for this newsletter.)
The Terrarium daily events email appears in the inboxes of faculty, staff, and students at 7 a.m. every weekday and features all events listed on the college's Master Calendar for that day, and the day to come. The Monday events email provides a full snapshot of the week ahead, and the Friday events email provides a look at what is happening over the weekend. Campus community members can post events to the Master Calendar using the Event Submission Form.
Want to get your news in the Terrarium? Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Decisions about each week’s newsletter --and regularly occurring website posts-- are made on Wednesdays. Got an idea for next week’s edition? Send us your news no later than Wednesday at noon. Though space is limited, we’ll do what we can. (Thanks for your patience and understanding!)
