October 27, 2013 at 4:53 pm

Kirsten TakakiBeloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Soccer team got a very welcome result on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Knox College at the Strong Complex Soccer Field, snapping a long dry spell, to split their weekend Midwest Conference matches.  The Buccaneers fell 2-0 to Illinois College on Saturday.

In Sunday's win Kirsten Takaki got the lone goal of the match off an assist from Monica Norton at the 58:24 mark of the second half.  The Bucs then made it stand up by almost completely shutting down the Prairie Fire.

Beloit won the shots battle 17-2 with Alex Spirov getting the shutout win without making a save.

Back on Saturday Illinois College scored once in each half to secure the closer-than-it-seemed win.  IC had 20 shots to the Bucs' seven.  Spirov made seven saves in net.

Beloit has the week off before hosting Cornell College for Senior Day next Saturday in the season finale.  Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
