De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't get much to go right in the second half while St. Norbert College seemingly had everything go their way in a 79-43 Midwest Conference loss on Wednesday night.
The first half was a series of runs by both squads. After the Bucs scored the first basket of the game SNC went on an 11-0 run to go up 11-2 six-plus minutes in. Beloit responded with a 14-2 run to take a 16-13 lead at the 8:30 mark but a 7-0 run by the Green Knights gave them the lead back with just over six minutes left. The Buccaneers tied it up at 20-all before a 14-4 run by SNC to close the half gave them a 34-24 advantage.
St. Norbert continued their run in the first two minutes of the second half, making it a 22-6 spurt that put them up 40-25 and they never looked back. Beloit was within 55-34 midway through the half before SNC sealed it with a 14-2 run to put things completely out of reach. The largest deficit reached 36 late in the contest.
Lana Wieseman led Beloit with 19 points, the lone Buc in double figures. Lauren McNanna had nine points, all in the first half. Jenna Larsen finished with seven points and 10 rebounds. The Buccaneers shot 25.5% for the game, 20% in the second half, while St. Norbert was at 53.5%.
Beloit will look to turn things around on Saturday at Illinois College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Jacksonville.
