Lake Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team bent but never broke on the way to a 74-63 win at Lake Forest College on Tuesday night.
The Buccaneers scored the first seven points of the game and pushed to a 15-4 lead six minutes into the contest. They enjoyed their biggest lead of the half at 43-26 with 2:18 left and held a 45-33 advantage at the break.
But the Foresters came out firing after halftime, scoring the first 11 points to pull within 45-44 at 15:43. The Bucs responded with a 17-5 run over the next seven minutes and re-established their double-figure lead at 62-49 at the 8:37 mark. LFC again put together a run, this one 12-0, to pull within 62-61 with 3:56 remaining. And again Beloit answered that run in the final three minutes, out-scoring Lake Forest 9-2 down the stretch to secure the win.
The Buccaneers shot 46.2% for the game, including 51.7% in the opening half while evening their Midwest Conference record at 2-2.
Lana Wieseman led Beloit with 25 points, tying her career-high, and 11 rebounds. Laura Panicali had 12 points with four assists and Lauren McNanna 11 points.
The Bucs have a few days to prepare for and take their finals before hosting Knox College on Thursday, December 19. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
