Grinnell, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team mounted a comeback effort but for the second straight game the deficit was too big to overcome in a 60-49 loss at Grinnell College on Wednesday night.

The Pioneers took charge of the game with an extended 13-5 run in the opening half that turned a 5-4 Buccaneer lead into a 17-10 GC advantage with 7:24 left in the half.  Grinnell extended their lead to 27-15 at the break, closing with an 8-0 run.

Grinnell continued their push to open the second half, outscoring the Bucs 11-4 in the first five minutes to move ahead 38-19.  The biggest lead was 23 at the 11:05 mark, 45-22.

Beloit mounted a comeback late in regulation, pulling to within 12 with just over two minutes left.  But they could get no closer than the final score.

Amanda Moore led the Buccaneers with 12 points.  Jenna Larsen had ten points and six rebounds.  Sarah Stariha scored eight.

The Bucs continue their Midwest Conference road trip on Saturday at Lawrence University in Appleton.  Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m.
