Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team will be joining the Midwest Conference in their home finale against Ripon College on Wednesday night, honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NABCM) in the “Play for the Cure” campaign.

First serve is at 7:00 p.m.

The conference office has partnered with MWC volleyball teams who will be wearing pink “Play for the Cure” tees in pre-game warm-ups during select conference games. “Play for the Cure” tees will also be available for sale during various home contests with help from Student-Athlete Advisory Committees within the Midwest Conference and online at MidwestConference.org as a fundraising initiative.

“The Midwest Conference Volleyball Coaches feel that it is very important to raise awareness about cancer amongst our campus communities.” stated MWC Volleyball chair Jen Saylor of Lake Forest. “To do it together will hopefully make a stronger statement. For our athletes to come together and support the cause is just a small stride in the fight against cancer.”

The NBCAM program is dedicated to increasing public knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.  NBCAM works together with various associations to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure.

“Midwest Conference volleyball coaches deserve all the credit for putting their enthusiasm and effort behind this initiative,” noted Chris Graham, Midwest Conference Commissioner. “We are pleased to be supporting awareness and fund-raising for such an important cause.”

Wednesday night will also be Senior Night for the Bucs, with Mary Parker, Caitlin O'Leary, Tess Jacquez and Laura Toth playing their final home match.  Beloit finishes up the regular season with road matches at Lawrence University on Friday night and at St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon.
