Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team enjoyed the first day of the Beloit Relays, so much so that the Men stand in first place while the Women are in second, trailing Augustana by one point.
Highlights of day one included three wins for Beloit, with Karen Jones taking the 3000m Steeplechase in a Karris Track record 12:00.71; Joe Skurski winning the 10000m; and the Men's 4x200m Relay team of Mat Kahl, Matthew Kreiser, Tyler Coleman and Peter Siess also posting a win.
Four Buccaneers earned second-place finishes - Anna Wenzel in the 10000m; Matt McKay in the 3000m Steeplechase; Darth Winkler in the Discus; and Mateo Lauersdorf in the Javelin.
The Relays continue on Saturday with a full day of finals. Action begins at 10:45 a.m. with the Women's Discus. The running events get going at 12:30 p.m. with the 4x100m Relay.
