Beloit, WI -- It was a historic day for Beloit College Athletics on Saturday as Buccaneer Track & Field returned home meets to their schedule with the Beloit Open at Karris Track & Field at Strong Stadium. And it was even better as both the Men and Women posted team wins in the four-team meet.
Eighteen Buccaneers posted winning performances, ten for the Men and eight for the Women, with Matt McKay and Kenny Williams both winning twice on the Men's side and Amani Edwards winning twice for the Women.
The Women out-distanced Carroll University 209-163 while the Men were ahead of Knox College 210-151.
Posting victories for the Women's team were Edwards in both the Shot Put and Hammer Throw; Sara DeLong in the 3000m Steeplechase; Camilla Jackson in the 1500m; Karen Jones in the 5000m; Cherrelle Phon in the Pole Vault; Karly Clippinger in the High Jump; and the 4x400m Relay of Jackson, Rachel Monroe, Elizabeth Peckham and Alex Hinck.
For the Men, McKay won both the 3000m Steeplechase and the 110m Hurdles and Williams took the 400 Hurdles and High Jump. Also scoring wins were Travis Towns in the Javelin; Chris Stanley in the Pole Vault; Tyler Coleman in the Long Jump; Abdi Ali in the Triple Jump; Myles Schneider in the Hammer Throw; and the 4x400m Relay of Aaron Joiner, Williams, Nathan Brault and Peter Siess.
Beloit is back on the road next Saturday when they compete in the Wisconsin Private Schools Meet at Ripon College. Action begins at 10:30 a.m.
