Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs

Mike Wilson begins his seventh season at Beloit College in 2015.  He has served as the defensive coordinator for the past three years while also coaching the defensive backs. Currently, Wilson also serves as a strength coach for the Beloit athletic department. Wilson had a separate coaching stint at Beloit from 2008 to 2010, serving as defensive coordinator, video coordinator and linebackers coach.

Prior to his current stint at Beloit, Wilson coached at the University of Chicago, serving as the defensive coordinator, strength coach, and linebackers coach in 2011.

Coach Wilson started his career at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. He served as a defensive graduate assistant while helping coach the defensive backs from 2006 to 2007.  He helped the Cardinals win two conference championships and make two national playoff appearances.  

During his time at Beloit as the defensive coordinator Wilson has coached the all-time leading tackler in Buccaneer history.  This past season he had an individual player who ranked 42nd in tackles for loss and 64th in sacks nationally.  He also tutored defensive back, Antonio Jones, to 1st Team All-North Division MWC honors this past season.

Coach Wilson is a 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. He earned a Bachelors degree in Physical Education-Sports Management. While at Valpo, he played football for 4 seasons. He earned a Masters in Liberal Studies from North Central College in 2008.

He and his wife, Jessica, reside in Beloit with their 4 children.
