The Beloit College Softball team will be hosting five clinics during the months of January and February. All clinics are geared toward fastpitch softball players in the third through 12th grades and will be held at the Beloit College Sports Center and Marvin Fieldhouse on campus.
The Pitching Clinic, which will be limited to 15 pitchers per session, is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. for beginning pitchers and 2:30-4 p.m. for advanced pitchers on January 13, 20 and 27. The series will focus on the fundamentals of windmill pitching, building on spin, spot and speed and the development of a variety of pitches (change-up, drop, screw, rise). The cost for the pitching series is $60.
The Catching Clinic, which will be limited to 20 catchers per session, is scheduled for Sunday, January 20 and 27 from 1-4:00 p.m. Catchers can attend one or both sessions. The clinic will focus on all of the fundamental skills and catching strategies. Cost for the clinic for one date is $35 and for both dates $50.
The Hitting clinic, which will be held on Sunday, February 10, features two sessions and will be limited to 40 hitters per session. Session 1 is scheduled for 12:00-2:30 p.m. and is for 4th-7th grade players. Session 2 is from 3:00-5:30pm and is for 8th-12th grade players. This year’s hitting clinic will focus on fundamentals and mechanics of hitting. The techniques of hitting and bunting will be covered along with Tee drills, soft toss drills, machine drills, slap-hitting strategy, working the count and how to develop strength as a hitter. Cost for the clinic is $30.
The Defensive Strategies Clinic for grades 3-6 will be on February 24th from 12-2:30 p.m. This clinic will focus on fielding, throwing, communication drills and defensive strategy for both the infield and outfield. Enrollment for this clinic is limited to the first 40 preregistered players. The cost for this clinic is $35.
The Advanced Defensive Softball Strategies Clinic for grades 7-12 will be held on February 24th from 3-5:30 p.m. This clinic will focus on position play, fielding/throwing combination work, exchanges, bunt defense, 1st and 3rd situations and infield/outfield communication. A pizza dinner with the Buccaneer Softball team is included at the end of this clinic. Enrollment for this clinic is limited to the first 40 preregistered players. The cost for this clinic is $35.
Participants receive a clinic t-shirt with registration fees.
